Watch the official Despicable Me 4 trailer

If you missed it in the movie, you should go and have a look at the trailer. The easter egg appears in the first few seconds of the trailer, and it shows a minion stacking on another making a minion mosaic on the wall in the office. It features yellow tiles on a blue background, referencing the iconic color palette of the minions.

This is a tribute to the artist Invader known for his pixelated mosaics of characters existing in the fictional world. But a minion mosaic has never been seen, maybe due to the unfamiliarity of these chubby-looking yellow tic-tacs that debuted in 2010, more than a decade after Invader’s started his street art journey.

However, according to a fan who tried to remake the mosaic digitally, it is physically impossible for Invader to create that mosaic in a street environment. It is because there are too many pixels required to make a mosaic that resembles the minions. In the trailer, the proportions of the mosaics are not clearly shown and they are disproportioned as the camera is constantly moving in the shot.

But hey, Invader’s mosaics being featured in a minions movie is pretty cool, right? Comment down below your thoughts!
