Prelude

Who is the artist?

Invader is a renowned French street artist known for his unique style that blends pixel art with urban environments. His real identity remains anonymous, adding an air of mystery to his creations. Inspired by the 1978 arcade game Space Invaders, he uses small ceramic tiles to create mosaics resembling 8-bit video game characters, bringing nostalgic digital imagery into the physical world. His work is celebrated for its playful yet provocative commentary on technology and culture.

The Global Space Invasion

The Global Space Invasion project is Invader's ambitious endeavor to spread his art worldwide. Since the late 1990s when he initiated the idea of invasions, he has installed over 4,000 mosaics in cities across the globe. Each installation is carefully mapped and cataloged on his website, where fans can hunt down his invasions with his app, FlashInvaders. This project transforms urban spaces into interactive art galleries, encouraging people to explore their cities while discovering these hidden gems. Invader's work has become a cultural phenomenon, symbolizing the intersection of art, technology, and public space.
