Unique Invader Artpieces: A Collection of his Prints

The French anonymous street artist Invader is known for his mosaics, inspired by the pixelated graphics of classic arcade games, particularly Space Invaders. As he continues his project of Global Space Invasion, his works can be found in placements worldwidew. Apart from the usual medium of ceramic tiles, the artist also experiments with another art form: Prints.
What are Prints?
By definition, Prints are Invader’s art pieces in the art form of paper. It includes printed mosaics, photographs, posters, etc.
Since Invader started in the late 1990s, the mosaics made of squared, colorful tiles weren’t enough to display it at its finest quality. This choice of medium limited the artist from creating art that must exist as a three-dimensional plane. However, it became repetitive. Aliases were then born in 2000, a replica of the original composed of the same material on an acrylic sheet. In 2001, Invader started creating Prints, which are Invader’s works printed out on a piece of paper.
While Invader's street art is momentary, his prints offer a relatively permanent way to enjoy his work. Each print typically begins as a work that he finds interesting, which may not necessarily be street mosaics, but other works such as photographs or RubikCubism works, and then translated into limited edition prints. These prints are usually color-printed, using high-quality materials to preserve the vivid colors and dynamic of the original piece.

Because there are a lot of Invader’s prints, we only covered a select few. In addition, some of his works are not conclusively classified, which demonstrates the diversity in Invader’s work where different art forms coexist.
Mosaics
The most common Prints Invader publishes are direct copies of mosaics. Invader will filter and choose a few of his mosaics to make into Prints.

The artworks made with Rubik’s Cubes, in which the style was coined RubikCubism by Invader, are often shown in Prints, especially those that reference masterpieces and iconic scenes.

Photographs
Invader will take photos of moments or real-life objects that are of significance to him. These photographs will occasionally be used later as subjects in Prints.

When Invader holds exhibitions and shows, he sometimes releases printed posters with highlights as the merchandise sold at the venue.

A note from Invader
Since the first mecanical printing processes have been invented, the artists have used them to spread their creations. I have myself started printing with silkscreen process when I was a teenager and I still use it. Those prints are part of my work and a great way to share it with as many people as possible. In addition to the prints I have self published, I had the chance to work with POW, the publishing company from London who managed to bring the art prints to the next level. The invitation from MGLC gave me the opportunity to gather and present all of my prints on paper in an exhibition but also in a eponymous cataloogue raisonné.
