Invader’s Sticker Packs

Invader, the masked French street artist, is renowned for his mosaics made with ceramic tiles, inspired by the aesthetic of video game characters, most notably from the game Space Invaders. However, his artistic reach extends beyond mosaics, encompassing a variety of stickers that have captivated fans worldwide.

Stickers?

Invader's stickers are a portable extension of his mosaic art, allowing enthusiasts to engage with his work in a more personal and accessible manner. His fans and audiences often want to be owners of Invader’s works, but most are too pricey. Whether it is an Alias, Prints, or an Invasion Kit, they are simply unaffordable for a normal citizen. This is where stickers come in, offering a cheap alternative to Aliases and Invasion, and are occasionally sold in his Space Shop and exhibition shops.

These stickers have pixelated designs that resemble the mosaics that Invader places worldwide, echoing the retro gaming aesthetic as the hallmark of Invader's style. They look exactly alike, so it’s as if you are owning an Invader yourself. Stickers are a relatively old feature added to Invader’s projects, believed to be first released in 2000. It’s not talked about as much as Invader’s other projects, but it is definitely a unique element of Invader’s art.

Disclaimer: We won’t be able to cover all the stickers released due to the myriad of stickers Invader has published.

the stick your space sticker packs

The first sticker pack by Invader is the Stick Your Space pack, which is worth 20 points. This pack was released in 2000, making it one of the rarest sticker packs from Invader.

In 2015, Invader released another Stick Your Space sticker pack, but this time, it’s worth 60 points. The package's design has been tweaked, and each Invader sticker is worth either 1 or 10 points. Additionally, this was released one year after the FlashInvaders app, although it is highly unlikely that it has any electronics or scanning features.

Invader released a third Stick Your Space the same year, and it is a 10 silk-screened sticker pack.

A defining characteristic of Invader’s sticker packs is that each sticker replicates a real-life mosaic, just like an Alias. Below are a few examples:

2000s

Returning to the 2000s, there weren’t many stickers released by Invader. He would occasionally release sticker packs, though it wasn’t the main focal point of his art. Thus, there are no exact dates for the release of these stickers.

As previously mentioned, these stickers are replicas of real-life mosaics by Invader.

In the 2010s, Invader organized many solo exhibitions. In the major exhibitions, Invader will have a shop selling souvenirs like Exhibition Catalogs and Sticker Packs, further promoting stickers to his collection. In addition, some stickers are a bonus present in the Exhibition Catalog or the Invasion Guides, so the exact sticker numbers are unclear.

Then comes the Invader Space Station, ISS. This was a major exhibition that Invader spent a long time planning. It’s an exhibition with a whopping nine floors worth of Invader’s works. With the exhibition, Invader made another Sticker Pack named Invader Space Stickers, which includes 25 stickers inspired by the works showcased in the exhibition. The sticker packs were available for purchase from the vending machines at the exhibition.

Most recently, in support of Paul Watson, the arrested captain concerning an international warrant issued by Japan for his anti-whaling interventions, Invader collaborated with Sea Shepherd and Captain Paul Watson Foundation to show his stance. The former organization issued two stickers inspired by Invader’s mosaics.
